Residential Kitchen $30,000-$60,000: CotY Winner

The redesign of the very small outdated 79 s/f kitchen incorporated all of today's modern conveniences.  Removing half of one of the walls gave an open and larger feel to the kitchen.  A new stackable washer/dryer, range, microwave, and dishwasher were added to the design.  We also included pot drawers, pullout trash, storage pantry, and a prep area for preparing meals.  A seating area for two, with a place to have morning coffee was incorporated into the new layout.  The redesign overcame all the kitchens obstacles combining the old and the new, meeting the homeowners' budget, and every wish list request.  Giving this same 79 s/f footprint its new clean modern look and life.

Residential Kitchen $60,001-$100,000: CotY Winner

Most new construction kitchens are being designed without soffits in order to make them feel more open.  However, lots of older homes do have soffits.  Removing the soffit is often an easy job because there is little or nothing inside it.  But, sometimes that soffit is more than just a space holder.  In this redesign, the homeowners wanted to remove their soffits and reconfigure their kitchen so they could include a cooktop and wall oven.  an island with seating for their two young children and a wooden chimney stack hood were also tops on their wish list.  This couple got everything they wanted, but it definitely took a lot of creativity and ingenuity.

Residential Bath $30,000-$60,000: CotY Winner

A warm sorrel finish on the raised panel maple cabinets is offset with a light toned engineered stone countertop.  The tile has a marbleized pattern.  The 20in x 20 in floor tile was laid in a brick pattern for interest and to reflect the subway tile pattern surrounding the tub.  The customized sink backsplash is topped off with the chair rail piece used in the tub area.  A brushed nickel finish was carried through the bathroom including the plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, custom mirrors, and accessories.  Crystal door and cabinet hardware was selected to compliment the crystal chandelier.  Custom window treatments complete the elegant style of this master bath.

Residential Bath Over $60,000: CotY Winner

The client wanted to enhance the overall bedroom and master bath suite.  Absorbing the closet gave the additional space needed to unify the project design.  The creative use of glass brings maximum light into the bath and the double pocket doors allow the east light and new views to flood into the master bedroom space beyond.  The separation of the lavatories gives both owners space with custom additional storage on the woman's side.  The shower and soaking tub please both owners and add drama while their placement in the room adds new views to give a spa-like bathing experience.

Residential Interior Over $100,000: CotY Winner

The home was built in the 1920's with an existing floor plan that needed to be updated for contemporary living.  Our clients asked that we not add any square footage and retain the 1920's architectural details.  The main objectives included to create kitchen space to allow two people to cook together, enlarge the eating area and add natural light, establish a better connection to the back yard, and make use the the existing unheated screened porch.  All of this and more was accomplished within the established budget.

Entire House $250,000-$500,000: CotY Winner

The house is a single-story, bungalow-style home on the bay.  The client wanted to update all rooms and create a better plan flow within the existing footprint.  In addition, the client wanted to remodel the attic space into a master bedroom and bath.  The exterior was also remodeled with new windows, siding, and additional Bungalow-style architectural details.

Residential Kitchen $30,000-$60,000: Meritorious

Currently, kitchen consumers are attracted to contrasting tones without a busy feel.  this light and air kitchen takes your breath away without being overdone.  A custom stain and glaze combination selected by the customer warms the kitchen while the granite countertops ground the room in a dark and rich Autumn Wheat color.  The edge is beveled to create a slightly rough edge, giving a raw effect.  The square style door completes the style with an edgy blend--where contemporary meets traditional.  Old world dark wood floors in cherry and stainless appliances are another unexpected marriage that really seems to work.  Such a sophisticated design--this kitchen will always be in vogue.

Residential Bath $30,000-$60,000: Meritorious

The intent of this project was to go back in time and create a master bathroom space that was inviting and comfortable.  The homeowner wanted a new claw-foot tub to be the focal point of the room.  A secondary project goal was increase storage capacity in the adjoining master closet.  The use of wide moldings, wainscoting, and decorative window glass helped enhance the tub area while the use of a perimeter border of tile helped with the accents that the customer was looking for.  Shaker style cherry cabinets with granite tops finished off the room.
